Ascend Float Spa opened on January 1st 2019 at 8825 Sheridan Drive in Clarence. Partners Katrena Avent, Tamara Stephen and Karl Schmelz worked to build WNY’s largest and newest floatation therapy facility. Featuring three “Wave Rooms” and one float pod, Ascend offers double the capacity to meet the growing demand for the many benefits of floatation therapy.
Floatation therapy incorporates sensory deprivation and ultra-saturated Epsom Salt water. Over 1,000 pounds of Epsom Salt are dissolved into the 11’’ of water in each of the four float environments.
“The high buoyancy created by that much salt will float any person, regardless of size and body style. You can actually feel it push you up when you put your hand into it,” said Tamara Stephen.
Floatation customers report improvements in mental clarity, stress reduction, sleep patterns, flexibility, muscle soreness, blood pressure and creativity. Some people also use it for vision setting or to experience a ‘mental journey’.
“Floatation relieves pressure on our bodies literally like nothing else can. Our customers tell us that pain is relieved better than anything else they’ve tried. The decompression along with the magnesium absorption from Epson Salt are powerful tools for healing and pain relief,” said Katrena Avent who is also a registered nurse.
The air and water are kept at 94 degrees Fahrenheit to match the outside temperature our body. This gives Ascend’s customers the experience of unawareness to where their body begins and ends, helping disconnect their day-to-day thoughts and encouraging a deep meditative state.
Ascend is currently open 9am – 9pm, 7 days a week. Interested parties can contact Ascend by calling (716) 331-1900 or visiting www.ascendfloatspa.com.
