CLARENCE, NY- Buying local is now a central concern for one local industrial development agency.
On February 17th, The Clarence Industrial Development Agency became the first IDA in Western New York to pass a resolution urging recipients of IDA funding to buy local before they purchase products or services from vendors that are located outside the community.
“We strongly encourage businesses that have been helped by the Clarence Industrial Development Agency to buy from suppliers in Western New York,” Town of Clarence Supervisor and CIDA Board Member Scott Bylewski said. “In doing so, you help promote the local economy.”
“If a business in Clarence is receiving benefits from the Town of Clarence IDA, we urge them to see if the product or service they need to source can be found locally,” Clarence IDA Chairman David Hartzell added. “Why not shop in Western New York before they buy from suppliers in Cleveland, Pittsburgh or over the internet?”
The resolution is part of a sweeping movement of buying local initiatives that is making its way across New York State.
